Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in power within the urban setting.
Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of characters who will separate from the main group to embark on their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Combat Party
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the actions of the third episode show why these particular heroes are best suited for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing started the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his own means, breaking into the secret base, attacking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
Casimir then paid off his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants revenge.
- Kattigan knows Timmony and warns that it is a hostile location.
- The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- However, their position as important members in House Halovar could enable the group enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them few options but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
What’s Next?
From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to form the Seekers and Planners groups.
Viewers can expect learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
